State of the State Addresses Water Infrastructure
Last week Indiana’s Governor Eric Holcomb made several remarks in his 2018 State of the State address that demonstrated his knowledge of the State’s water infrastructure. As he spoke, he made several references such as:
- “Keeping our economy humming requires that we continue to maintain and build up, and out, our infrastructure.”
- “Of course, infrastructure is more than roads and bridges.”
- “It is also high time for Indiana to address our aging water infrastructure.”
These comments were a call to action, not only for state agencies, but also Indiana’s local utilities. In addition, Governor Holcomb directed the “Indiana Finance Authority to designate half a million dollars in each of the next two years for the development of asset management plans for high-need water and wastewater utilities.”
Commonwealth Engineers applauds the Governor and his administration for their efforts to address Indiana’s water infrastructure.
