John Hodge of the Town of Spencer is named 2023 Wastewater Operator of the Year
John Hodge of the Town of Spencer has been named the 2023 Wastewater Operator of the Year by the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water. The award was presented on March 15 at the Spring Conference in French Lick, Indiana. During the awards luncheon presentation, the “best of the best” were honored by Alliance leaders and their members representing over 800 water and wastewater systems and related professionals.
John has worked in the wastewater industry for over 37 years and has been the Town of Spencer’s operator for the past 10 years. John was recognized for his diligent service to the Town, where he has restored confidence in maintaining regulatory compliance and is playing a key role in preparing the Town for the unprecedented growth of its facilities. He has played an instrumental role in an innovative regionalization project with IDNR’s McCormick Creek State Park and is actively engaged with workforce housing developers and with Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. as they work toward ensuring infrastructure needs are met. John is also training and mentoring an Alliance-sponsored apprentice while also overseeing multiple large capital improvement projects that benefit the Town and create a pathway for sustainable growth.
