Huntingburg Breaks Ground on WWTP & Interceptor Project
On July 16, the City of Huntingburg broke ground on a significant infrastructure project to replace the current Wastewater Treatment Plant with a new Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), as well as the construction of a section of influent main along 1st Street.
This ambitious project is made possible through a combination of federal grants and low-interest loans from EDA, IFA, and USDA totaling over $50M. These improvements are designed to meet the growing industrial and residential needs of the community and to support sustainable development for years to come.
In attendance at the July 16th event were various federal, state, and local community leaders and funding agency executives. This included Craig McGowan of USDA, Marisa Weimer of Indiana Bond Bank, Jessica Condra of Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, Allie Germain of the Office of Senator Todd Young, Donna Lashley from the Office of Congressman Larry Bucshon, as well as representatives from the project contractors and engineering firm. In addition, there was a great show of support by many city officials and staff, members of the media, and the community at large.
