Portage, IN – Calumet Region Sewer Interceptor Phase II Improvements Project Groundbreaking

On August 14, the City of Portage broke ground on a significant infrastructure project. The Calumet Region Interceptor Phase II Improvements Project includes sewer lining of 1085 linear feet of 30-inch sewer and 526 linear feet of 36-inch pipe with cured-in-place pipe liner to seal out inflow and infiltration causing reduced capacity in the interceptor and downstream wastewater treatment plant.

This project is part of the Calumet Region Environmental Infrastructure 219 project and has been allocated $1.1M of federal funding. The City of Portage is providing 25% of the project’s cost at $358,333.
