Asset Management Plan (AMP) Reporting Reminder for Indiana Utilities

Indiana water and wastewater utilities are reminded of the Asset Management Plan (AMP) reporting requirement that must be completed and submitted to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) starting in July of this year and updated and submitted thereafter in a 4-year cycle.

The IURC will require the first AMP reporting to be done through an online questionnaire, which will serve as the official method for utilities to meet this requirement. The year your utility is required to submit is based on your utility name, which allows submissions to be phased over multiple years.

Submittal Schedule:

  • July 1, 2026: Water utilities with legal names beginning with A-L;
  • July 1, 2027: Water utilities with legal names beginning with M-Z;
  • July 1, 2028: Wastewater utilities with legal names beginning with A-L;
  • July 1, 2029: Wastewater utilities with legal names beginning with M-Z; and
  • Utilities providing both water and wastewater will report separately for each service using the above dates.

Upcoming IURC Email – Action Required

The IURC has indicated that it will be sending an email to utilities in the coming weeks with:

  • Additional instructions related to AMP reporting
  • Notification that the online AMP form is available
  • Direction on next steps for compliance

Utilities should note that this email will require a response. It is important that the message is reviewed promptly and routed to the appropriate staff or governing body representative.

Once the IURC releases the online AMP form, utilities will be required to:

  • Complete and submit the online questionnaire, and
  • Submit by the applicable deadline tied to the utility’s name
