Commonwealth Announces Staff Promotions to Associate Program

PRESS RELEASE INDIANAPOLIS, IN – January 22, 2025 – Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. (Commonwealth) announces the promotion of the following staff members in expanded leadership positions.

Robyn Matthews, PE of the Crown Point office, and Amy Mendoza, PE of the South Bend office, have been promoted to Commonwealth’s Associate Program. The Associate Program exists to develop talent within our organization and allows exemplary team members to grow in leadership roles.

Robyn Matthews, PE – A graduate of Purdue University, Robyn serves as Project Manager and Head of the Transportation Department. She joined Commonwealth in 2023 and brings more than 20 years of professional engineering experience specializing in traffic and transportation engineering. Throughout her career, Robyn has led and supported a wide range of transportation projects, with expertise in traffic studies, maintenance of traffic plans, roadway, roundabout, and traffic signal design, and utility coordination. Her background includes hands-on construction experience with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), as well as extensive work in traffic and transportation consulting for engineering firms, providing her with a well-rounded perspective from planning and design through construction.

Robyn is a registered professional engineer in both Indiana and Illinois and is based out of Commonwealth’s Crown Point office, where she leads the Transportation Department and supports clients across the region.

Amy Mendoza, PE, – Amy is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she earned a dual major degree in Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering. She joined Commonwealth in 2019 and brings over seven years of experience as a graduate-level consultant engineer working on a wide range of civil and environmental engineering projects.

Amy is passionate about helping clients optimize procedures at utilities to promote long term success, meet standards, and promote cost effectiveness. Her project experience includes preliminary engineering and master planning reports for water and wastewater utilities, process design for water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants, lift station design, sewer rehabilitation projects, and construction engineering. She is experienced with funding agency coordination throughout planning, design, and construction phases, supporting infrastructure improvements for communities and clients.

Amy is a registered professional engineer in Indiana who began her career with Commonwealth in the firm’s Crown Point office and has recently transitioned to the South Bend office, where she continues to support projects throughout the region.
