Community Crossings Grant Fund Application Deadline
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will begin accepting applications on Monday, August 6, 2018, for matching funds for shovel-ready local construction projects through Community Crossings. Community Crossings is Indiana’s local road and bridge matching grant program. Applications are due by September 28, 2018, and awarded communities will be notified by INDOT beginning in November.
State match funds of up to $1 Million are 75/25 for communities smaller than 10,000, 75/25 for counties smaller than 50,000, and 50/50 for larger communities/counties.
All Indiana city, town, and county government units are eligible for projects such as road resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation, road construction, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance in connection with asphalt paving projects. Material costs for chip sealing and crack filling operations are also eligible for funds. Along with roads and bridges, projects can include plans for drainage issues that affect the Right-of-Way (ROW). However, sidewalk work is not allowed with crack sealing/patching projects. Projects are to be under contract by May 1, 2019, but based on Commonwealth’s experience, communities are urged to have these in place well before that date. Communities were encouraged by INDOT this past year, to have their paperwork in order and submit at least 1 to 2 weeks before the deadline date to give staff time to review and prevent missing out on funding.
Additionally, Asset Management Plans must be submitted to the Local Technical Assistance Program – Purdue University (LTAP) in order to qualify for the program. These Plans are to be updated every 2 years.
Moving forward, INDOT will be issuing a call for projects two (2) times per year in 6-month increments, but a community can only be awarded funds once per calendar year.
INDOT will host six regional meeting dates for city, town and county officials to receive details regarding the 2018 Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) program for the 2019 Fiscal Year funds. They are as follows:
July 10, 2018 – Seymour, Indiana
July 12, 2018 – Vincennes, Indiana
July 17, 2018 – Crawfordsville, Indiana
July 24, 2018 – Greenfield, Indiana
