Electrical/Control Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. is seeking an electrical/control designer who will assist in delivering electrical engineering and control design services to our clients. Opportunity is available in our Indianapolis, IN Headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be involved with all phases of electrical and control system design of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. This includes power distribution, motor control, grounding and lightning protection, exterior and interior lighting, standby power generation systems, MCC design, control system design from Lift Station panels through large-scale SCADA Systems, specification writing, and construction cost estimating. You will have the opportunity to work on large municipal water/wastewater treatment facilities.

You will be assigned to a project team tasked with helping communities and industries solve their most challenging environmental infrastructure problems. Our team-based culture effectively fosters learning and growth.

  • Assist team members in engineering tasks such as field work, inspections, engineering reports, construction engineering, and simple design calculations.
  • Make pre-design site visits to investigate conditions and needs.
  • Make post-construction site visits to investigate the quality of installation and compliance with design documents and codes.
  • Provide startup assistance to help facilitate communications between process engineers and electrical technical staff.
  • Meet with clients and process design staff to define electrical and control scope and approach.
  • Perform electrical and control system design.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience
  • Real-world experience in the electrical and/or control industry is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments Ability to speak and write professionally
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Sound knowledge of electrical fundamentals
  • Ability to apply them to real-world applications
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
