
Industrial Project Architect

JOB DESCRIPTION
Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. has an opening for a full-time industrial project architect for the planning, design, and construction of water resources facilities. The position will involve coordination with our corporate Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) team and CAD/Revit BIM Design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-talented and creative project architect interested in furthering their career in the relatively recession-proof utility engineering industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In the context of water resources including dams, levees, potable water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities:
- Develop feasibility evaluations and planning-level design reports
- Perform general building design
- Participate in client project team meetings
- Coordinate with the Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) team and CAD/Revit BIM Design team to develop design goals, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinate with subconsultant architects in the areas of residential,
commercial, institutional, and landscape architecture - Collaborate with clients, engineers, and contractors to ensure project success
- Develop contract documents, technical documentation, detailed specifications, and architectural permits
- Oversee construction administration
- Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Perform project site inspections
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited university
- Registered Architect (or working towards RA with a minimum of 2+ years experience with an architecture/design firm)
- Knowledge of Design Build, Civil, and Structural Engineering
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software
- Understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Dependable and professional team player
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Publisher, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to acquire a general understanding of the water resource industry
