A $13 million project to improve Madison’s water infrastructure – and the dining water serving all of Madison and three rural water companies – can now begin with the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety officially approving the notice of award and notice to proceed at its meeting on Tuesday.
“After a two-year process, we are finally ready to begin our Clean Water Project,” said Madison Mayor Bob Courtney.
Brian Jackson, the city’s utilities manager, said Tuesday’s action follows a pre-construction meeting that was held last week. “We formalized everything then and decided today would be the official start date for everything.”
Additionally, a limited notice to proceed was approved for Commonwealth Engineers, Inc., the engineer for the project, as its final step in moving forward.
