City of Portage Ribbon Cutting

On October 20, 2022, the City of Portage, IN held a ribbon cutting for its $1.5M Sewer Rehabilitation Project.

Mayor Sue Lynch, Col. Matthew Broderick, Deputy Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District, Rep. Frank Mrvan of IN 1st District, representatives from the City, Commonwealth Engineers, and Grimmer Construction, all gathered to celebrate the completion of this project.

The completed project will reduce excess flow in the wastewater system due to inflow and infiltration and reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflow events adjacent to wetland areas. The project extends from Stone Avenue in the south up to Central Avenue in the north.

This project was part of the Calumet Region Environmental Infrastructure Section 219 program. The contract was awarded to Grimmer Construction, Inc. of Highland, Indiana. Field construction was completed in October 2022.
