Town of Leavenworth, Indiana
Project Highlights:
- OCRA and SRF Funds – Total Grant / Loan Forgiveness $1,485,000 and $85,000 Loan
- Installation of a new 65,000 glass-fused-to-steel tank with an internal mixer
- Replacement of booster pump
- New radio frequency automatic meter reading system
Project Description:
The project involved the construction of a new elevated water storage tank that was desperately needed to replace the existing 85-year-old (1937) elevated tank. The new tank incorporated a 19.5’ diameter, 29.1’ high, 65,000-gallon glass-fused-to-steel ground storage tank from Mid-Atlantic Storage Systems with a bolt-together, hot-dipped galvanized steel support structure from Pittsburgh Tank and Tower to provide an elevated tank that is reported to be the first of its kind in the United States.
The project also involved the installation of a new passive Tideflex mixing system in the tank, a new fiberglass building to house the tank controls, an access drive to the new tank site, replacement of a 100 gpm booster pump, and installation of approximately 200 water meters with new radio frequency automatic meter reading (AMR) capability. The meters were installed by Town personnel.
