Town of Arcadia breaks ground on water and wastewater improvement projects

On Wednesday, April 19, the Town of Arcadia held a groundbreaking event for the Water and Wastewater Improvement Projects. Commonwealth Engineers was in attendance along with representatives from the Town Council, Utility Staff, Grant Administrator, the Indiana Finance Authority State Revolving Fund (IFA SRF), the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), and Hamilton County.

WASTEWATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
This multi-division project will correct deficiencies at the wastewater treatment plant and in both the sanitary sewer and stormwater collection systems. The project includes upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant, expansion and rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer system, and separation of the cross connected storm and sanitary sewer system. This concerted effort will correct 20 years of system deficiencies, bringing the wastewater utility into compliance with Indiana Department of Environmental Management regulations and will open the door to the Town’s future growth while protecting human health and the environment.

WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
This multi-division project will address both the water treatment plant and the water distribution system. The project includes upgrades to the water treatment plant and the well houses; upgrades and expansion of water mains, and installation of a new 200,000-gallon elevated storage tank. This project will result in increased fire protection and the removal of lead-contaminated service lines.
