EPA Wastewater Questionnaire Issuance Pending

Over the last several months, our Regulatory staff has been tracking the status of a proposed EPA nutrient removal questionnaire that has been developed with the intent to:

• Summarize nutrient removal efficiencies of secondary wastewater treatment plants.
• Collaborate with the State and utilities to optimize existing nutrient removal processes at less expense.
• Aid the EPA and states in developing realistic and achievable nutrient removal expectations.

The National Study of Nutrient Removal and Secondary Questionnaire was recently published in the Federal Register, and the issuance of the questionnaire to certain wastewater utilities appears to be likely in the coming year.
