Project Highlight: Terre Haute WWTP Tour
The City of Terre Haute completed an improvements project to its Class IV activated sludge wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). With the improvements, the average daily design flow of the WWTP is 24 MGD (million gallons per day), with a peak treatment capacity of 48 MGD.
In this video, Terre Haute’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, Robert Elkins, gives us a tour and explains the benefits that the new plant offers to the City and its residents.
Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. (Commonwealth) was a member of the design and construction engineering team for the City of Terre Haute’s new and improved wastewater treatment plant. Specifically, Commonwealth designed the bio-solids facilities improvements which included a new septage/grease receiving facility, additional pumping/improvements in the existing digester control building, and a new sludge processing facility inclusive of centrifuge sludge dewatering.
