RULE 5 / CONSTRUCTION SITE RUNOFF GENERAL PERMIT

Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, governed under “Rule 5,” outline how to control erosion and sediments from leaving a construction site. IDEM is currently working on converting “Rule 5” (327 IAC 15-5) to a new NPDES Construction Site Runoff General Permit. The proposed plan is based on US EPA Construction General Permits, and the draft is currently in the Advisory Group Engagement stage.

How Could this Affect You?
This new permit could mean expanded requirements on managing construction site stormwater discharges, new minimum requirements for performance standards for construction sites, as well as post-construction and project management logging.
